Huizhou Donghu Hotel
Over 70 years ago, when Hong Kong fell to the enemy, cultural figures such as Liao Chengzhi, He Xiangning, Liu Yazi, Zou Taofen, Mao Dun, Hu Sheng, Liao Mosha, and Hu Feng found themselves trapped in the Hong Kong region.
With the assistance of the Southern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and the Eighth Route Army's office in Hong Kong, they courageously traversed the Japanese military blockade, navigating upstream along the Dongjiang River.
They were escorted through the Donghu Hotel - a pivotal transit point for the rescue of Hong Kong's cultural luminaries - to a secure rear base. The arrival of these cultural icons, who later illuminated the cultural and political stage, has immortalized the Donghu Hotel in the chronicles of the Communist Party's red history.
The exhibition, centering on the clandestine efforts to rescue these cultural figures at Donghu hotel, integrates nearby revolutionary sites, historical commercial districts, and the scenic West Lake area, establishing a red revolutionary cultural tourism route that promotes patriotic education and the spirit of revolution, thereby enhancing the historical and cultural brands of Huizhou.
